Project-Based Programs

Project Placements with Community Impact

Over the course of a semester, participants complete mentored, remote Project Placements with LGBTQ+ organizations based in our destination city. Projects are scoped for real impact in advocacy, media, community building, and research. Each week, participants join Leadership Labs with reflection, discussion, and professional development workshops. The Labs help students translate their work into skills, language, and portfolio pieces, while building relationships with local partners ahead of the in-person capstone.

In-Person Capstone Experience

At the end of the term, participants come together for a one-week capstone in the destination city where their Project Placements were based. The capstone brings remote work into the city, deepening relationships and celebrating contributions to local projects. The week brings the Leadership Lab to life through site visits with host organizations, mentor meetups, community dialogues, and shared reflection. Participants present their project work, receive feedback and coaching, and strengthen relationships with local partners and LGBTQ+ leaders.

Participants will also explore the city’s history and cultural landscape they have engaged with remotely. The capstone consolidates learning, turns experience into portfolio-ready outcomes, and builds networks for continued impact in global queer advocacy.
